THE COLOPHON

How this site is made.

AI-powered, human-signed. Systems produce at scale; a person stands behind everything, and nothing leaves unsigned. The site is built the way the work is: one system — a fixed type scale, a closed palette, a drawn kit of marks — and this page is its spec sheet. Every value on it is the value the site actually uses.

Headlines don’t run on a ratio — each rung is here because a real page needed it, and the gaps are uneven on purpose. The foundations file anchors display at 56; the site holds one deliberate step down to this quieter 50 scale, ruled in Aug 2026 and locked everywhere. The article column reads at a uniform body register on a fixed 680px measure — the reading template’s most important number.

02 · THE PALETTE

THREE GROUNDS — CREAM (DEFAULT) · WHITE (PANELS) · INK (CONTRAST, CLOSERS) — EACH WITH ITS OWN BODY, MUTED, RULE, AND GUIDE TONES

Seven values, each with a job, and the palette is closed at seven. One accent per surface — the service the page is about. Red is the human: the person in the work, and the action that reaches one. There is no quota — count follows meaning — but if red isn’t showing where a person is or what they’re about to do, it’s ink.

03 · THE GRID

Twelve columns at 1440 with a 100px margin: a 1240px content column, centred on a canvas that runs full width. The ink bands bleed edge to edge; the content re-centres inside them. Articles read on a fixed 680px column. Nine spacing steps, each with one job — distance does the work that boxes and lines would otherwise have to.

04 · THE BUILD
PLATFORMA hand-built WordPress block theme. No page builder, no theme framework.
SOURCEVersioned in Git. Every change ships through a reviewed pull request.
MOTIONMarks draw; pages don’t. Things wake on attention — they don’t perform: no scaling, no lifts, no bounce, nothing animates on load. Vanilla JavaScript and CSS, and everything resolves to its finished state for reduced motion.
WEIGHTNo frameworks, no carousels-as-a-service. The art is SVG and CSS drawn to spec.
IMAGERYSigned works, not stock: editorial imagery is public-domain art with the maker’s name in mono beneath it. No stock, no AI imagery, ever — that’s the argument the brand is making.
SIGNEDEvery page on this site was read, shaped, and approved by a person before it shipped. The signatures are real — a person’s actual hand, never a cursive font.
